The Chautauqua County legislature could approve the 2014 budget later today during its monthly voting session.
In September, County Executive Greg Edwards presented a $230.8 million budget that included a spending increase of $1,151,000 and a property tax rate increase of 2.58 percent. His budget also included over a million dollars in Intergovernmental Transfer (IGT) Program funding for the county home, along with extra funding for the Office For the Aging and road and bridge repairs.
Since that time, the legislature’s Audit and Control committee has worked on amending the spending plan and will present its budget tonight to the full legislature. The committee was not only able to remove the tax rate increase, but actually slightly reduce it.
Tonight’s meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Mayville in the legislative chambers and is open to the public.
