MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Legislature will hold its regular meeting tonight in Mayville, with several key items on the agenda.
Among them is a bill that would call on the county to provide $500,000 to match a federal grant that would be used to help operate the county home. Despite the resolution failing in committee, it will still be considered by the entire legislature at tonight’s voting session.
In addition, count lawmakers will consider a measure to provide $10,000 in occupancy tax money for the Chautauqua Lake Association, which would be used to help remove weeds from the lake. A resolution involving a plan to improve the county’s welfare-to-work program will also be acted on this evening. And the panel will consider a measure sponsored by legislature and farmer Fred Crosscut (R-Sherman) that would oppose recent changes by the U.S. Department of Labor that prevents youth from doing farm and other agriculture-related work.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the legislative chambers.
