BUFFALO – The national weather service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Advisory for both Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties, running from no until 10 a.m. Tuesday. In addition, a Lake Effect Snow Watch is in effect from Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning.
According to NWS forecaster, as much as 5 to 9 inches of snow could fall in the most persistent lake snow areas during Monday and into Tuesday morning.
For the Lake Effect Snow Watch that begins Tuesday night, accumulations of as much as 7 inches could fall in the most persistent lake snow areas.
Weather officials say bands of lake effect snow along with considerable blowing and drifting snow will greatly reduce visibilities and result in snow covered roadways, causing hazardous driving conditions.
