MAYVILLE – The defense has rested in the case of Barbara Redeye, the 24-year-old Jamestown woman accused of stabbing and killing her half-brother, Dale Redeye, during an argument last summer in Jamestown.
According to the Post-Journal, Judge David Foley has said that due to some additional legal procedures and a desire to begin jury deliberations the same day as summations, adjourning early would be preferable.
Summations will begin Friday — the eighth day of the trial — in Chautauqua County Court at 9 a.m.
The trial of Redeye centers around the death of 36-year-old Dale Redeye, and whether the act was committed in self-defense – as the Barabara Redeye’s attorneys have claimed – or in a fit of anger following a heated argument between the two, which is what the District Attorney is arguing.
Redeye could face anywhere between 15 years to life-in-prison if found guilty of second degree murder.
