MAYVILLE – Jury selection continues this week in the trial of an Elmira man who was one of four people charged in connection to the town of Carroll Double Homicide, which took place in April 2013.
On Tuesday, attorneys continued jury selection in the trail for Davide Coggins, but according to media reports, no additional jurors were chosen. So far, a total of six jurors have been selected since the process first got underway last week.
Coggins is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of a Gordon and Joyce Skinner, who were found beaten to death inside their Wheeler Hill Road just outside of Frewsburg.
Coggins was one of four men from Elmira charged. A second defendant, Joshua McCormick, also faces first-degree murder charges, and is expected to go to trial early next year.
Two other defendants in the case have already reached plea deals with the county DA’s office and are expected to testify against Coggins in court.
Jury selection is scheduled to resume Wednesday morning.
