MAYVILLE – Jury deliberations are now underway in the murder trial of a Fredonia man accused of killing his elderly neighbor in 2010.
On Friday the jury in the case against Jason Wells deliberated for more than seven hours before being released for the weekend. Jurors will return to Chautauqua County Court this morning to continue deliberations.
Wells is accused of beating, stabbing and strangling his 81-year-old neighbor Ruth Fisk to death inside their Fredonia apartment complex back in 2010. The D.A.’s office is seeking a charge of second degree murder. Wells’ defense tam has said he is a paranoid schizophrenic and was either insane at the time he committed the crime or suffered from extreme emotional disturbance.
