JAMESTOWN – A city resident is in police custody after allegedly assaulting a police officer during an incident over the weekend.
Jamestown police say 37 year-old Melody Lebowitz was arrested early Saturday night on charges of assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.
According to police, officers were investigating an incident at 28 Fairview Ave. at about 7:50 p.m. During the investigation, Lebowitz became disorderly and allegedly started throwing items around the house. At one point, she allegedly threw a glass black-light bulb at an officer, striking him in the head and causing a small laceration. Lebowitz is also accused of resisting arrest when trying to be brought into custody.
She was eventually taken into custody, charged and then sent to the city jail to await arraignment.
