JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown School Board will begin working on the district’s 2018-19 school budget during a Tuesday meeting in the school Administration Building.
During a presentation two weeks ago, the board learned the basic details of how much it will cost to maintain programming at its current level, as well as what the governor’s budget had proposed in terms of school funding.
The projected budget is expected to be in the ballpark of $85 million, with the total amount in state aid the school would receive under the governor’s budget plan at $67.5 million dollars. That could change depending on how the final state budget numbers come in, which is expected by the end of this week.
School officials have already said the district is once again committed to not raising school taxes, meaning the tax levy would remain at $14.6 million.
Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. with an executive session scheduled to address a personnel matter. Following the executive session, the budget work session will take place and that meeting is open to the public. The meeting will take place in the school administration building at the Jefferson School campus on Martin Rd.
