Jamestown will once again be in the national spotlight this weekend as the Progressive Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular, which take place Dec. 13 at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, makes its network television debut.
The program featured Olympians from both figure skating and gymnastics, along with musical performances from nationally recognized recording artists. The two hour program will air nationally on ABC twice this month – first this Saturday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. EST (2 p.m. PST) and again on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. (2 p.m. PST).
The figure skating portion of the show includes the talents of Meryl Davis and Charlie White, the 2014 Olympic Gold Medalists; Elvis Stojko, two-time Olympic silver medalist; Kurt Browning, world champion; Shae-Lynn Bourne, world ice dance champion; Alissa Czisny, two-time US champion; and Shawn Sawyer, Canadian silver medalist.
The gymnastics portion includes Simone Biles, two-time all-around champion; Jessica Lopez, three-time Pan American Silver Medalist; Sam Mikulak, two-time US all-around champion; Silviya Miteva, 2011 world bronze medalist; John Orozco, three-time world bronze medalist; Paul Ruggeri III, six-time US medalist; and Taylor Spears, 2014 NCAA champion.
The show also includes musical performances by Australian pop sensation Cody Simpson and country music star Danielle Bradbery. Simpson recently recorded a duet album with Justin Bieber set to release soon, and those familiar with The Voice will recognize Bradbery from her winning performances in season 4.
The Olympic dream team of Kristi Yamaguchi, Michael Weiss, Nadia Comaneci, and Bart Conner host the event.
