JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Public Schools’ Community Presentation on School Finances has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 29th at 7 p.m. in the Jefferson Middle School auditorium.
The presentation by Superintendent Tim Mains was originally scheduled for tonight but had to be postponed, due to Mains being called to Albany to deliver testimony in the Small City Schools Lawsuit.
The purpose of Thursday’s presentation is to inform the community how school districts are funded and how that directly affects the Jamestown Public Schools in the 2015-16 school year.
Topics that Superintendent Mains will address include:
- How inadequate school financing has negatively impacted all area Schools,
- How low state funding directly affects Jamestown children’s educational needs,
- What the district has done until this point to survive, and
- What the forecast is for the 2015-16 School Budget
“I encourage the community to come to this presentation to help them better understand the budget parameters under which a school district like Jamestown must work due to inadequate state funding,” said Superintendent Mains. “We will also give the community resources and ways to help the district during this funding dilemma.”
