JAMESTOWN – City police have arrested one of their own following a criminal forgery investigation.
Jamestown police captain Robert Samuelson sent out a media release Tuesday saying 40 year-old Kenneth Nellis III of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a Class D felony. The Jamestown Post-Journal has identified Nellis as a member of the Police Department.
According to the Post-Journal, Chief Harry Snellings said the charge comes after a domestic violence complaint was made against Nellis. No other details were made available.
Nellis has been a member of the Jamestown Police Department for four years. He was arraigned in city court and bail was set at $2,000.
An order of protection was also issued during Nellis’ court appearance in addition to the case being moved from city court to another jurisdiction.
