JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police are investigating yet another shooting incident that took place in the city.
Police say the drive-by shooting took place at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Eighth St. and Prendergast Ave. During the incident, a male victim was walking down Prendergast Ave. when he was fired upon by an occupant of a blue sedan, and was shot several times.
The suspect vehicle then reportedly drove away, heading east along Eighth St.
Police say the victim – who’s name is not being released – was sent to an area hospital to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds. It’s not yet known his condition as of this morning.
SUNDAY’S SHOOTING INCIDENT IS FIFTH IN 11 DAYS
The shooting is the fifth such incident in the past two weeks – beginning with the Thanksgiving morning homicide shooting that took place following an altercation at 129 S. Main St., resulting in the death of 26 year-old Allan Burnett, Jr. of Buffalo. Two other individuals were also struck by gunfire in that incident, but were expected to recover.
Following the Thanksgiving morning shooting, three other shooting incidents occurred over the next 48 hours – all at different locations in the city. No one was injured in those three subsequent shootings.
No arrests have been made in any of the four shootings that took place Thanksgiving weekend, nor has an arrest been made in Sunday’s shooting incident. Jamestown Police say the five shooting incidents are considered specific, targeted acts and are not random acts of violence towards the general public.
