JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings updated the Jamestown City Council on where his department is at in the investigation of four shootings that took place in the city within a 48-hour period, beginning with a shooting incident on S. Main Street Thanksgiving morning, which resulted in one person being killed and two other injured.
Snellings said that there are a lot of moving parts in the investigation, but at this point it appears all four incidents were related.
“We weren’t comfortable initially to say publicly that they were connected, but after working on this – and we’ve been working on it nonstop since Thursday – I’m comfortable now saying that they are all connected. We just had to verify a couple of things. So they are related to one another,” Snellings said.
Snellings said so far no arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing. He said he’s also increased patrols in order to prevent any further incidents from happening.
Police say the Thanksgiving morning homicide took just after 4 a.m. when an altercation broke during a gathering at 129 South Main St. The altercation spilled out into the street and that’s when gunfire was reported, resulting in three people being shot. Police identified the person who died as 26 year-old Allan Burnett, Jr. of Buffalo.
Later on Thanksgiving Day, another reported shooting incident took place in the area of Falconer and Thayer Streets.
Then on Friday at about 2:45 p.m., officers responded to 344 E. 4th St. for a report of multiple shots being fired. The final incident occurred at about 8 p.m. Friday night in the area of Lakeview Ave. at Euclid Ave.
Several members of the city council expressed their appreciation to the police for their effort in investigating the incidents, including council president Greg Rabb.
“I don’t feel unsafe. If people do, I understand. They should be vigilant and if they know stuff, help the police. As chief Snellings pointed out, we’ve put out extra patrols. They’re working this case as hard as they can. They gave up their holiday and their weekend, and we certainly appreciate that,” Rabb said.
Anyone who may have information on this or the other shootings are asked to contact the Jamestown Police immediately at 483-7537 or they can leave an anoymous tip on the departments Tip 411 App or the Anonymous Tip Line at 483-8477 (Tips) All calls will be kept strictly confidential.

They are full of chit cause the shooting on Thayer and Falconer had nothing to do with the others. Those were innocent people caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Get your facts straight !!!!
