BUFFALO – A Jamestown man facing federal charges related to unlawful gun possession has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy announced Thursday that 45 year-old Raymond VanBuskirk was sentenced after being convicted of unlawfully possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon.
Van Buskirk was arrested last year after an investigation found he moved two rifles, one shotgun, and over 1000 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition from his home to another location for safekeeping. He also kept a third rifle at his home, which was recovered by federal agents on June 29, 2016.
Van Buskirk had a prior New York State felony conviction for sale of a controlled substance and was prohibited from legally possessing of firearms and ammunition.
