WEST ELLICOTT – A Jamestown was sent to the county jail on $4,000 bail late last week after being arrested on several charges, including Driving While Intoxicated and fleeing from police.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies say 43 year old Michael May, Jr. was stopped early Friday Morning in the Town of Ellicott for failing to maintain a single lane and failure to keep right. As Sheriff’s Deputy approached the vehicle, May allegedly sped away and then drove off the road and through a lawn and then west on Fairmount Ave. at a high rate of speed. Lakewood-Busti Police and the Town of Ellicott Police assisted in the pursuit and were able to deploy spike strips, which caused May’s vehicle to slow down. He eventually lost control on Rt. 474, went off the road and was taken into custody.
In addition to DWI and fleeing from police, May was charged with other multiple traffic violations. He was arraigned Friday in the Town of Ellicott Court and sent to the county jail.
