JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man was arrested for DWI while taking his children to school Tuesday morning.
City police say they arrested 32 year-old Christopher Troutman of Jamestown after he was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash with another vehicle at the intersection of Washington and Seventh Streets at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.
The driver reportedly called 9-1-1 and also followed Troutman until police were able to arrive. Troutman admitted to police that he was involved in the accident. A further investigation found him to be allegedly intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, two counts of felony DWI with a child under 15 (Leandra’s Law), two counts of child endangerment, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
He was arraigned in Jamestown city court and then sent to the county jail.
Tuesday was the first day of classes for students at Jamestown Public Schools.
