JAMESTOWN – Jamestown police have arrested a city many following an ongoing investigation into the sale and trafficking of narcotics into the Jamestown area.
JPD Captain Robert Samuelson says the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force executed a search warrant Thursday morning at 20 E. 5th St., Apt 21. Inside the apartment investigators found 34 year-old Timothy S. Smith and three small children ranging in ages from 2 to 6 years-old. Samuelson says investigators also found and seized a quantity of crack cocaine (18.5 grams) and more than $800 in cash.
Smith was taken into custody and has been charged with 3rd degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and 3 counts of Endangering the welfare of a child.
Smith is currently in the city jail and is awaiting arraignment for the charges. Chautauqua County Child Protective Services assisted at the scene and is currently working to help the children.
Police say the investigation is continuing and more charges are expected.
