JAMESTOWN – Jamestown police have arrested a city man for allegedly breaking into a downtown restaurant that he was also employed at and stealing money from a cash register.
Jamestown Police were called to Fresco’s Pizza at 2 E. Second St. to investigate a burglary that took place on Saturday, May 7 at about 11:30 p.m. Police say a suspect allegedly unlawfully entered the premises without permission and forcibly broke open a cash register, where a quantity of cash was then removed. The entire incident was captured on surveillance cameras within the business.
Investigators were able to use the video to identify the suspect in the video as 37 year-old Peter Golonka of Jamestown. Police say Golonka was employed by the business and allegedly entered the business after hours without permission to commit the crime.
Golonka was taken into custody on Monday and was charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree. He appeared for his preliminary hearing Friday morning where he was sent to the county jail with bail set at $10,000 cash bail.
