JAMESTOWN – A city man was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and 4th degree criminal mischief following a domestic dispute and subsequent standoff with police on Friday.
According to a media release from Jamestown Police, officers were called to a residence at 136 Park St. on the city’s south side at about 8 p.m. Friday after receiving a report that a man had locked himself in a room with a small child and that he also allegedly had a shotgun in his possession.
Police arrived on the scene and made contact with the man, identified as 25 year-old Darin Buvoltz, and after several hours of negotiations he surrendered to police without incident. No injuries were reported in the incident and the child was returned to his mother.
Buvoltz was taken to the city jail on related charges to await arraignment in city court.
Jamestown police were assisted at the scene by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police.
