JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man is awaiting arraignment an 11-hour-long standoff with city police Sunday.
Jamestown Police say the incident began early Sunday morning around 3 a.m. after receiving reports of a man chasing a woman with a knife at 22 Spring St. Ext.
After arriving on the scene police were able to secure the woman’s safety, but the man – later identified as 28-year-old Nicholas Brown — barricaded himself inside the home with a 9-year-old child and remained until just after 2 p.m.
Police were able to eventually bring Brown into custody without anyone being injured.
Brown was sent to UPMC Chautauqua hospital for an evaluation and then sent to the City Jail and for arraignment. He is being held on multiple warrants and several charges, including Menacing, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
