JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man has been arrested for possessing a large amount of heroin while also leading police on a chase Wednesday afternoon.
Jamestown police say 36-year-old Juan Velazquez was spotted early Wednesday afternoon speeding through an area of Bowen and Bush Streets. When officers tried to pull Velazquez over, he drove away and lead police on a brief chase before finally hitting a dumpster on Stafford St. and coming to a stop.
When searching Velazquez, police allegedly found five bundles, or 50 bags, of heroin in his car.
Velazquez was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance as well as multiple traffic infractions.
