KIANTONE – A Jamestown man is in the Chautauqua County jail this morning after attempting an overnight armed robbery just outside of the city limits in the town of Kiantone.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies were called to a reported armed robbery that took place at the Kwik Fill station on Foote Ave. Ext. in the Town of Kiantone. Investigators say the clerk had closed for the night when a male suspect confronted her in the parking lot, and pulled a knife on her. The suspect then forced the clerk back inside the store, where he forcibly stole cash. After the robber, he left the scene headed into the city.
Investigators used the sheriff’s K9 unit and were able to locate the suspect hiding behind businesses along Foote Ave. He was identified as 34 year-old David Zembardo of Jamestown.
Zembardo was arraigned in the Town of Kiantone court and committed to Chautauqua County Jail. Both the knife use in the incident, along with the money that was stolen, was recovered.
Jamestown Police, Lakewood-Busti Police and the New York State Police all assisted in the investigation.
