JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man faces animal cruelty charges for allegedly shooting and killing neighborhood cats.
Officers with the Jamestown Police Department were called to an area of Linwood Ave. on the south side of town at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night following reports of a person with a weapon. After an investigation, police discovered that 25 year old Russell Genovese Jr. of Linwood Ave. was allegedly using a pellet rifle to shoot cats. A further investigation led to the discovery of two dead cats in the area.
Genovese was charged with 2 counts of animal cruelty along with a charge of reckless endangerment and prohibited use of a weapon. He was sent to the city jail and held on bail.
