JAMESTOWN – Fire crews were busy early Tuesday morning battling a house fire on the city’s south side.
Fire crews were called to Linwood Ave. near the corner with Newland Ave. just before 2 a.m. to respond to an apartment house.
All ten residents in the downstairs and upstairs apartment were able to make it out safely, with the downstairs’ resident and neighbors assisting the upstairs resident by finding a ladder and helping them get out of the home. A dog and a cat in the upper apartment was lost as a result of the fire.
The home is reported to be a total loss and the cause remains under investigation.
