JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown mother has been arrested on child endangerment charges after police found her five children living in squalor.
Jamestown police were called to a home at 220 McKinley Ave. late Wednesday morning to check on the well-being of several children. Officers spoke to 35 year-old Tammy Sheehan at the door and noticed a strong odor of feces and garbage coming from inside the home. While talking with Sheehan, police saw two children looking outside and noticed they were dirty, had dirty clothing, and also had small cuts on their face. Police were also able to look inside the home and determined it was uninhabitable due to the amount of feces, garbage, and rotten food on the floor.
When officers tried to check on the well-being of the children Sheehan allegedly attempted to stop the officers.
Sheehan was charged with five counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of obstruction and taken to the city jail for arraignment. The children were placed with family working with CPS and the house was condemned by the city.
