A new farmers market will open in Jamestown later today. Locally grown fruits and vegetables, herbs and grass-fed beef are just a few of the items that will be for sale at the Jamestown Community Farmers Market. The new market will be located in the lot next to the Noe Place Convenience Store and Sunoco Gas Station at 712 E. 2nd Street in Jamestown.
Busti Cider Mill and Small Meadows Farm will be participating in the market.
The new farmers market is part of an healthy lifestyles push from the Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play initiative. Part of the aim of the program is to provide healthier food options to residents living in designated food deserts – areas in the community where access to nutritious and healthy foods is not readily available.
The Jamestown Community Farmers Market will be open for business every Wednesday through October 31 from 2:00 pm to 6:00pm.
Creating Healthy Places is a project funded by the New York State Department of Health and is administered by the Chautauqua County Health Network.
