JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown City Council held its weekly work session last night and Ward 3 councilman Michael Taylor was not in attendance. Taylor faces criminal charges in two separate incidents that took place less than a week apart. During the early morning hours of April 14, he allegedly broke a large window at a bar on Harrison Street and was later charged with a felony count of criminal mischief. Early in the morning on Friday, April 20, he was charged arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
Following last night’s meeting, City Council President Greg Rabb says the council’s primary focus at this point is Taylor’s health and well being.
“I spent part of the weekend getting a hold of all the councilmen and we had a discussion this evening, just to see what the sense of the council is,” said Rabb. “The discussion among the council members continues to be his well being and we want him to get the help that he needs, so that he can be a fully functioning council member and human being. That’s where my concern stays.”
Taylor has pleaded not guilty to both charges. He has also stepped down from his post as chairman of the council’s public safety committee. His next court appearance is Thursday, June 14 in Jamestown City Court.
