JAMESTOWN – The IRS Office in Jamestown will once again be open on a limited basis.
Over the weekend Congressman Tom Reed’s office announced that the office will now be open three days a week. Last week, the Jamestown Post-Journal ran a story about the walk-in Internal Revenue Service office, located at 201 W. Third St., had been closed since the start of January. No information was provided as to why the office was shut down and when asked about it during his weekly conference call, Reed said he was unaware of the closing but would look into it.
On Saturday, Reed’s office says that as a direct result of the Congressman’s efforts, the office will reopen and will remain open and available to help the local community.
Reed said that being in the midst of tax season, it is necessary to have an office that will be responsive to the needs of those in the Jamestown area.
The Jamestown IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center will be open starting Tuesday from noon to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed 1 to 2 a.m. for lunch), and also on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
