JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua County Humane Society is inviting area residents and supporters to stop by the Strunk Road Facility later this afternoon to help kick off its Cat Colony Renewal Project. Humane Society Board members, staff and volunteers will be on hand to share details about the Cat Colony Project, which includes a $24,000 fundraising goal.
Shelter director Sue Bloom says the Cat Colony – which serves as the primary home for nearly all the cats in the Humane Society’s care – is in need of renovating so that it can provide a more enriching and healthy experience for the animals by providing an environment that is similar to one they may find in their future homes.
So far, the Cat Colony project has already raised nearly 25 percent of its fundraising goal. However, officials are encouraging all residents and businesses to also make any donation they can in order for the campaign to meet its goal. The cat colony renewal project will only be able to get underway once all the funding has been raised.
To learn more about the Cat Colony Renewal Project, residents are encouraged to stop by the Chautauqua County Humane Society’s Strunk Road facility later today between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. RSVP are appreciated and can be made by calling (716) 665-2209 ext 205 or 213. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided, along with more info on the cat colony project.
We will also have more details on the campaign later today during WRFA’s community Matters program, beginning at 6 p.m.
The Chautauqua County Humane Society is a non-profit organization that receives no government funding for its day-to-day operations. Instead, it relies on donations and volunteer support from the public and Chautauqua County community.
