GOWANDA – The remains of a missing Gowanda woman has been found in northern Cattaraugus County.
The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting Thursday morning that the body of 59 year-old Kimberly A. Militello was discovered by a fisherman in Cattaraugus Creek, near the village of Perrysburg.
The discovery of the human remains took place on Wednesday and local authorities were immediately called in to investigate. Later in the day, New York State Police confirmed the remains belonged to Militello, who was last seen the evening Dec. 22, 2013 and was reported as having medical issues. A “silver alert” was issued shortly after her disappearance and is typically issued for seniors who suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease or other medical issues.
The remains were taken to the Erie County Medial Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
