MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan will present his 2016 Executive Budget to the Chautauqua County Legislature Wednesday night.
The presentation will take place during the Legislature’s monthly meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Legislative Chambers of the Gerace Office in Mayville.
While not all the details of the budget have been released, Horrigan did provide some information about the budget in a recent media release, saying it will achieve new infrastructure investments while delivering essential services across Chautauqua County and tax relief to all property owners.
The property tax relief is tied directly to an expected increase in sales tax, with the county hoping that a half-percent increase will generate enough revenue to result in at least a 2 percent reduction in property taxes.
This summer the state legislature approved the sales tax hike, although it has yet to be signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Once Horrigan presents his budget, the county legislature will review and amend the spending plan before the December 1 deadline.
The presentation is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.
The budget presentation will also be recorded and broadcast on WRFA’s community matters program, Thursday at 5 p.m.
