BUFFALO – Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) will present a Westfield family with a Bronze Star and several additional military service medals in recognition of one of its member’s service during World War II. The family of Major Roger Wolfe will meet with Higgins at his Buffalo Office, where the congressman will present the Wolfe family with the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, along with five other medals.
Wolfe, who grew up in Westfield before later moving to South Buffalo, served in the U.S. Military from June 27, 1942 through April 19, 1946. He was seriously injured on August 27, 1943 when the Jeep he was riding in was hit by an explosive device. His family recently contacted Congressman Higgins’ office to request assistance securing military recognition for their father.
