JAMESTOWN – A local man has been arrested following a road rage incident that involved a hatchet being chopped into the hood of another vehicle.
City police say the incident took place late Monday morning in the area of Prather Avenue and Hazzard Street in Jamestown.
According to police, 19-year-old Jacob Slade is accused of driving after a vehicle that had allegedly pulled out in front of him near the Arterial and Prather Avenue.
Slade reportedly chased after the other vehicle and eventually cut it off at an intersection. He then allegedly exited his vehicle with a hatchet and “chopped the hatchet into the hood of the second vehicle, causing more than $1,500 in damage.
Slade then allegedly drove off. The driver of the other vehicle was able to get a picture of his license plate and he was later found by police and brought into custody.
Slade was charged with felony second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree menacing. He was taken to city jail and held for arraignment.
