JAMESTOWN – The Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is returning to Jamestown later this spring.
The Jamestown Post-Journal, Dunkirk Observer, and Times Observer of Warren are teaming up to bring back the popular 3-on-3 tournament to downtown Jamestown the first weekend in June. Media One Group and the city of Jamestown are also serving as co-sponsors of the event.
The Gus Macker tournament was previously sponsored by the The Resource Center and held in Jamestown from 1997 to 2011. In 2012 The Resource Center dropped its affiliation with Gus Maker and created its own tournament known as “Street JAM” – which took place from 2012 to 2015. However, the event was cancelled in 2016 due to a low number of participants.
The registration fee for the 2017 Gus Macker is $136 per team, with a mail-in deadline of May 12 and an online deadline of May 15. Online registrations can be completed by visiting www.Macker.com.
20 percent of net Proceeds from this year’s Gus Maker tournament will go to the Alex Foulk Fund. Other proceeds will also be donated to various volunteer organizations that will be helping out at the event.
