JAMESTOWN – Two veterans will be featured in this year’s Downtown Jamestown Holiday Parade.
The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation says Ron Cotten, City of Jamestown Veteran’s Memorial Commission Chairman, will serve as the “Jamestown’s Snowball Express” Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration Grand Marshal. In addition, Sergeant First Class Keith Stam has been selected to sing the National Anthem upon the parade’s arrival to Tracy Plaza.
As the City of Jamestown Veteran’s Memorial Commission Chairman, Cotton continuously works towards raising money to complete the new Veteran’s Memorial at Veteran’s Park on Logan Avenue. In addition, he was instrumental in leading the effort to raise the funds to purchase 59 headstones of veteran’s unmarked graves at Soldier’s Circle in Lakeview Cemetery.
A Jamestown native, Stam has been an active serviceman of the US Army for 21 years and served in Operation Just Cause in 1989 for four months and Operation Provide Comfort in Desert Storm in 1990. He graduated from Cassadaga High School and currently lives in Jamestown while working for Matco Tools.
Line-up for “Jamestown’s Snowball Express” Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration, sponsored by The Resource Center and Lutheran Jamestown, will begin promptly at 5:00pm on Third Street between Monroe Avenue and Hallock Street, with the parade stepping off at 6:30pm and traveling east on Third Street to Tracy Plaza. The parade will conclude by 8:00pm. Complete line-up and parade details will be posted online at www.jamestownrenaissance.org and printed in The Post-Journal on Friday, December 6.
