GERRY NY – This August marks the 71st consecutive year for the Gerry Rodeo, the longest consecutively running rodeo east of the Mississippi.
The event opens on Wednesday, Aug. 5 and runs for four nights through Saturday, Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. with approximately 125 professional cowboys and cowgirls competing for more than $45,000 in prize money in the seven traditional rodeo events.
In addition to the rodeo competition, the event features the famous barbeque beef dinners served nightly in the air-conditioned dining hall beginning at 5 p.m. There is also a lighted midway featuring more than 20 vendors offering everything from Western wear to cotton candy. All proceeds benefit the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department and the show goes on rain or shine.
