GERRY – An annual tradition that’s taken place in Chautauqua County for seven decades gets underway Wednesday in Gerry.
The 70th annual Gerry Rodeo begins Wednesday night and continues through Saturday at the Gerry Rodeo Grounds. Organizers for the event say that this year there will be a record number of participants as well as a record purse for the winner of various contests – weather they be roping, riding, or bronco busting. Several nationally ranked contestants will be in town, along with the 2012 Rodeo world champion.
Rodeo performances are at 8 p.m. each night through Saturday, along with a Saturday afternoon matinee at 2 p.m. The Rodeo’s famous beef barbecue dinners will also be served daily, starting at 5 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department.
