GERRY – A Gerry man is facing charges related to animal cruelty after he shot and killed his neighbor’s dog, then buried it without informing the owner.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies were called to a home on Damon Hill Rd. in Gerry last Thursday to assist a resident who located his missing dog, Jake, in a field. Jake was missing for several days. While searching for the dog, the owner found him buried in a field. Following an investigation Deputies determined the dog was allegedly shot by 46 year-old Robert Rearick because the dog was barking near his residence. He then buried the dog in his field.
Rearick has been charged with Agriculture and Markets Law, Overdriving, Torturing, and Injuring animals. He will appear in the Town of Gerry Court.

Persue the charges to the fullest extent! People hsve to know that it is not right just to pick up a gun and shoot and kill someone’s dog just because it is defenseless!!
