UPDATE (1:54 p.m. Thursday, July 2): Stateline Speedway has confirmed that all races and related events for this weekend have been cancelled:
“Due to a lapse in our insurance coverage all events scheduled for 7/3 and 7/4 are cancelled. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused for our fans and competitors and are working to restore coverage for our next event.” – Stateline Speedway facebook, posted Thursday afternoon.
BUSTI, NY – It appears racing at State Line Speedway has been cancelled for this weekend and for the foreseeable future.
The Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour series, which is based in Melbourne, WV, said in a statement on its website that it has been forced to cancel it’s scheduled events at Stateline Speedway for Friday July 3.
Renegades Tour Officials say it was brought to their attention early in the week that insurance may be a problem at the speedway. More issues were made aware by an additional sanctioning body who was forced to cancel on Saturday due to lack of insurance and financial commitment and the World of Outlaws have also canceled for August.
The Renegades officials say they also contacted Stateline officials earlier this week in hopes that issues presented to them could be resolved, but so far have been unsuccessful in reaching anyone.
WRFA also called the state line office on Wednesday, but no one answered and the voicemail box was full. We’ve also reached out to Stateline ownership via email, but have yet to receive a response. Both the Stateline website and official Facebook page do not indicate that the race for Friday, July 3 or Saturday, July 4 are cancelled, although several others are also saying the event has been cancelled via a Stateline Speedway closed group page on Facebook.
Stateline Speedway is owned by Short Track Management, LLC, which is operated by Bill Catania Jr. – a native of Westfield NY and a short track racer. He purchased Stateline Speedway from Seamen’s Speedway, Inc. in May 2014.
