JAMESTOWN – A large office building in downtown Jamestown had to be evacuated on Thursday morning and more than two dozen people were treated for sickness due to a cooling system leak.
The Post-Journal is reporting that the incident took place at the Furniture Mart building around 10:30 a.m. with at least 30 people getting sick, including 14 who were sent to the WCA emergency room for breathing difficulties.
The leak reportedly took place on the building’s fifth floor. The building is the home of The Connection call center company, along with several law offices and other businesses as well.
A broken valve is believed to have caused the leak.
The Jamestown Fire Department, Chautauqua County Emergency Services, Chautauqua County HAZMAT, and Alstar all assisted at the scene.
