LAKEWOOD – A Frewsburg man faces multiple charges after he reportedly fled from police on his motorcycle and then later filed a false report that his bike was stolen.
Lakewood Busti police say the incident took place on Tuesday when 25 year-old Sean Wilburn allegedly avoided a traffic light at the intersection of Fairmont Ave and Mall Boulevard. When police witnessed the event they tried to pull him over, but Wilburn refused to stop and a chase ensued, with Wilburn allegedly traveling up to 120 mph at times. Police eventually ended the pursuit when the suspect was heading toward a school zone.
According to police, Wilburn later arrived at the Lakewood-Busti police station, claiming his motorcycle had been stolen.
An investigation revealed he had allegedly made the story up and was the actual driver. He was charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer, reckless driving, three counts of speed in zone, improper passing, avoiding a traffic control device, failure to comply with a police officer, speeding and interfering with operation of traffic.
Wilburn will appear in Busti Court on Tuesday.
