JAMESTOWN – The process to determine how to spend a $10,000,000 economic development grant from the state will continue next Monday.
The first Community Workshop for the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) will take place Monday night at the Willow Bay Theater in Jamestown. The meeting will review the DRI planning process and engage residents in a discussion about key goals for downtown revitalization and potential actions to create what officials say will be a more vibrant and prosperous place to live, work, visit, and invest.
This summer, Jamestown was selected as part of a competitive process by New York State and will receive $10 million in state funding to revitalize its downtown.
As part of this process, Jamestown’s Local Planning Committee (LPC) and the consultant team are drafting a Strategic Investment Plan to prioritize economic development, transportation, and housing and community projects for DRI funding. The plan will be completed by February 2017.
Monday’s workshop will include a group presentation, discussion, and brainstorming of ideas about the DRI. Small groups and interactive exercises will be included.
The workshop will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
