JAMESTOWN – Motorists in Jamestown will once again find it easier to drive from the west side to downtown.
On Wednesday Mayor Sam Teresi and the Department of Public Works have announced that West Fifth St., from Fairmount Avenue to Washington Street, has been reopened and traffic is flowing. The section of Fifth St. had been closed to traffic since May. Last month, City DPW Director Jeff Lehman explained to WRFA why the construction project was taking several months, but also said that it was scheduled to be completed by mid-October.
Crews put the final topcoat on the roadway on Tuesday and the remaining work on the cross street intersection on Wednesday. Lines are expected to be painted in the coming days.
