FALCONER – Investigators with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office say careless smoking is what led to a house fire early Tuesday morning in Falconer.
The Falconer Fire Department was called to the house fire at 62 E Main St. in the village shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning. Two occupants of the apartment where in the house when the fire started and were treated and released from WCA Hospital for smoke inhalation. Three other tenants were also displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The fire was determined to have started in a first floor apartment and was most likely accidentally started by unattended smoking materials. The Kennedy, Kiantone, Gerry and Jamestown Fire Departments also assisted at the scene.
