FALCONER – An apartment house is in ruins after a fire broke out Saturday night. According to the county sheriff’s department, fire crews from the village were called to the scene at 174 S Work St, Falconer at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night and found the two-apartment structure involved in flames on arrival.
The first floor of the apartment was vacant, and the 2nd floor tenant was able to escape without any injuries. An investigation determined that excess lint ignited in the dryer’s vent pipe, which was being used in the second floor apartment. No injuries were reported. The resident is being assisted by the Red Cross.
Falconer fire crews were assisted at the scene by Gerry, Jamestown, Kennedy, and Kiantone Fire Departments.
