Erie-Based Thrash Metal Band Makes Jamestown Debut Aug. 5 at Mojos

Erie thrash band Maniacal Device will make their Jamestown debut Saturday night, Aug. 5 during a triple header show at Mojos (104 E. 2nd St.).  Also appearing at the show will be headliners Detroit Red (Erie, PA) along with openers The Honest Mistakes (Erie, PA).

Maniacal Device is a five-piece that’s been playing around Northwest PA for the past two years.

“We play crossover – like Slayer, Poison Idea and Black Sabbath rolled into a big burrito,” explains lead vocalist Morbid Rob. “We’re Influenced by metal and Hardcore punk. We’re playing Jamestown because our friends Detroit Red asked us and we wanna get on the road.”

Other members of the band include Smellie, John Wrong, Philth, and Dan-O.

The band’s album Love Skull contains 10 original tracks that exemplify their approach to music: a fast, abrasive, in-your-face sound with irreverent song titles and lyrics that run the gamut of topics. Song titles include “Sneaky Jesus,” “Hog Splitter,” “Waste Us All,” “Love Skull,” and “It Should have Been Lars” – a song focusing on the untimely death of original Metallica bassist Cliff Burton.

Running at about 15 minutes, the album goes by at a very fast pace and leaves the listener wanting to hear more.

The album can be purchased on line at PatacRecords.com. Copies will also be available at the show in Jamestown.
