DUNKIRK – A Dunkirk woman has pleaded not guilty to the charge of second degree murder in connection to the shooting incident that took place Thursday night in the north county city.
The Post-Journal say 28-year-old Rebecca Ruiz entered the plea during her arraignment Friday in Dunkirk City Court.
Ruiz was arrested by Dunkirk City Police Thursday night, July 6, for shooting and killing 21-year-old Julian Duman, also of Dunkirk.
Dunkirk Police say officers were dispatched to 141 Lake Shore Dr. East in reference to a gunshot victim. On arrival, Duman was found lying unresponsive in the yard outside the residence. He was transported to Brooks Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.
Ruiz has reportedly said that the shooting was an accident.
