JAMESTOWN – One of the biggest days of the year for Downtown Jamestown is here.
The 2019 Downtown Jamestown Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration will take place Friday night, starting at 6:30 p.m. on West Third Street and continuing across downtown Jamestown, ending at City Hall. The parade will feature the traditional lighting of the city Christmas tree on Tracy Plaza, the arrival of Santa, and will culminate with a fireworks celebration.
The theme for this year’s parade is “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Those who want to celebrate early are encouraged to stop by Tracy Plaza for live music from For the People, starting at 5 p.m.
The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation (JRC) organizes the parade each year, which is presented this year by The Resource Center (TRC).
According to the JRC, dozens of area businesses, social organizations, and nonprofits will be downtown to celebrate the holidays, attend one of many area holiday events, and support local business.
TRC is also continuing their partnership with The Chautauqua Connections Children’s Coalition to help manage Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots will have a common drop point near the intersection of Spring Street and 3rd Street during the parade, and will also be collecting toys from their Toys for Tots float.
The fireworks will be launched from the Spring Street Parking Garage, and do require the weather and wind to cooperate. If all goes as planned, they will be launched at the conclusion of the parade, with a countdown from Santa between 8 and 8:30 .pm.
