JAMESTOWN – Music, storytellers, magic shows, monarch butterflies, and a 1K kid’s run will be among the attractions this Thursday, Aug. 28, as the Downtown Jamestown Farmers Market hosts its annual Community Day. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. at the market’s new location on Cherry Street between Second and Third Streets.
This year will mark the fourth year of the market’s 1K Kid’s Run for children in grades K through 5. Participants can pre-register the day of the event, just prior to the race, which starts at 12:45pm. Third Street between Prendergast Avenue and Washington Street will be temporarily closed for the race.
Other activities will include live music from the Infinity Performing Arts Steel Pan Alley from noon to 2 p.m. and a magic show from 2 .p.m to 3 p.m. An interactive story hour with Miss Cindy will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., coupled with a visit from Jed Phillips of the Chautauqua County Bee Keepers Association for a monarch butterfly release.
Face painting and a free bounce house will be available throughout the event, as will livestock displays with goats, sheep, chickens, ducks and a bearded dragon.
