ALBANY – Gov. Andrew Cuomo will deliver his State of the State and state budget address Tuesday in Albany.
The address is scheduled for 2 p.m. at The Egg Center for Performing Arts.
Cuomo has already laid out some of his priorities for this year in a 100-day agenda speech and an inaugural address. He has said he believes he can accomplish much of his agenda because the State Senate and Assembly are now both controlled by Democrats.
The governor plans to push for a permanent 2 percent property tax cap, to cut taxes on the middle class and to invest $150 billion in infrastructure. He also plans to propose legalizing recreational marijuana.
Much of Cuomo’s agenda for the year is focused on addressing social issues, such as proposing new laws on gun control.
Cuomo’s address on Tuesday will be held weeks before the Feb. 1 deadline for his budget proposal. Once the budget has been presented the state legislature will have until March 31 to finalize the spending plan.
